In 2020 I was privileged to be able to paddle alongside Rebecca Mason as she prepared for the challenge of the 20km Rottnest Island swim in Perth.
Not every day out was like this, and ocean swimming through the depths of winter is one serious enterprise.
Plodding along at 3kmh, I got to experience my local waterways in a different way, and I was constantly amazed at the clarity and beauty of my environment.
